Founded in the spring of 2000, the Baltimore Brass consists of six distinguished musicians with diverse musical backgrounds. As active performers and music educators, the Baltimore Brass is dedicated to the promotion and perpetuation of brass instruments in the context of chamber music.

The Baltimore Brass encourages the recognition of the versatility of the brass quintet by performing a variety of compositional genres from the magnificent works of J.S. Bach through the contemporary sounds of modern composers such as Duke Ellington and Martin Gore. While performing the standard brass quintet literature with the utmost finesse, in a field dominated by classical music the Baltimore Brass is paving the way into the 21st century by creating and performing their own arrangements and original works from the jazz and commercial idioms to the avante garde.

A relatively young chamber ensemble, the Baltimore Brass has already captured the attention of the region's music enthusiasts. The Baltimore Brass was highlighted in Music Monthly Magazine's 2001 and 2002 Readers' Polls where they received recognition in two categories; they received an honorable mention as one of the best classical ensembles in the region, and; they were voted as one of the top three instrumental ensembles in the region. Most recently, they were honored by the National Park Service at Baltimore's Ft. McHenry, and presented with an American flag that was flown in the same air space as the original flag that served as the inspiration for the Star Spangled Banner.
